Well, I've been making some easy tutorials for awhile now that I put different places, but I'm getting ready to really get into it. But I make them all as JPEGs (the whole tutorial is a JPEG). Here are my tutorials (so you can see what I mean): DarK's Tutorials*
As you can see I put them on my forum. But, I just don't know if it's really necessary to make them as JPEGs. I post the tutorials in several places- My forum, DeviantART, GreyCobra, and some others. The only one that I'm really concerned about is DeviantART. If I move from an image to text and images, I lose DeviantART as a way for people to see my tutorials. So, what I really want to know-- What format should I go with (e.g. Text & Images, just an Image, or whatever else)?
I'm open to any tips and ideas.
*I know that the tutorials are simplistic and mediocre at best, but it was just something I was playing around with. Now I've read some articles on writing tutorials (and writing in general), and am about to get serious with tutorial making.
What Tutorial Format?

I would say text and images. If the tutorial is an entire image it could take a while to load. Not everyone will wait for that so your tutorial will not be viewed.
I think Deviant Art is more for showcasing artwork and not tutorials.

Ok, well, are there any examples of text ones that you like? I just want to see what would be good and what wouldn't be.

Definately text and images (images saved for the web and compressed)
Lots of dial up users on the web and full image tutorials take far too long to download the same as video tutorials some don't even load fully. I'd hate to be on dialup waiting for some of them to load just checking them here and waiting is pain sometimes and I'm on a very fast connection.
It might be easier for you to have full size images but not for the end user trying to view them, they are quite useless in search. Words pull up better search results than images will ever do. Personally I don't like full size image tutorials majority are too large in file size very hard to print, lots use weird fonts and totally unreadable.....just a few I have seen around the web.
Faken has written a very useful guide you should have a read of it:

HTML was invented to bring you stuff like this with normal text and images, duh
you should use it. This way Google can finally index your tutorials.
