I ahve been working on a new layout for my site:

http://dev.arcath.net - if you get e PHP error on this link dont be suprised

I have started to add to the CMS and have made quite a few additions. I ahve also made a couple of alterations to the way things are displayed, but you would have to see the old version to tell (and i cant post that cause that would be advertising :P)

A few pages wont work yet so please bear with me.

I just want your opinions on it, so post away

Uhm... The navigation is dull and boring, and you borders and banner are quite "noobish". Try browsing some other tutorial sites and see how they've designed their sites, you might get some ideas.
A good tip when designing borders and such, is to not use those ugly bevel and emboss effects, I bet I'm not the only one who hates those.
Sorry if this is too harsh, it's just my honest opinion.
Good luck designing :D

Design
--------
You really must carefully consider the aesthetics of a website before designing it. Check out http://www.cssbeauty.com for inspiration.

Function
-------
In terms of data structure, there are a few anomylies, but overall it is sound.

Look, I really don't want to critique this overly harshly, but a lot of basic work needs to be done to your website. I wish you the best of luck!

Bevel and emboss doesnt work for me with web design.. i hate the borders.. might just be me on this one but i think all websites that have that bevel and embossed design is a little dated.. reminds me of the real old web layouts with windows 98 :)

Maybe go for something a little bright with a WOW Factor.. this design does nothing for me..

Sorry..

My suggestions are: Do not use photoshop filters or effects that much in your designs.
I only use gradients and text tool when I design, else than that I only use pencil-tool to draw everything. And thatīs it.
No need to make it look fancy with bevel and emboss, I might not EVER have seen anyone having a good result using that.
Try browsing some of the webdesign tutorials here at P2L, they might come in handy. Also try to look at what popular sites use, and try making something similliar (Though do not copy or steal, thatīs illegal.).
