I have a question about coding this practice layout I made. Posted Image

First, I used a 700x1 sample of the background (just the border gradients and white) to make a background picture, and I made a table in Dreamweaver and put it as the background.

Now, I am into the header.

As you can see, everything inside that box (home page linked header, linked buttons) will be their own images.

The problem I have is all the area surrounding it. What do I use to keep it's spacing besides cutting it ALL up into images? I have heard about a "spacer" picture, but I don't fully understand it. Any help would be appreciated.

I tried to fix the double post. What I am trying to say is how do I code the banner without messing up spacing. I want to keep all the stuff in the box exactly where it is in Photoshop, and keep the same spacing. I know I could slice up the background (white space) surrounding those links, but I don't want to do that. How could I keep the space surrounding those links without having to use images?

I would start with a table, 3 columns wide, and have your gradients set as the tiled background in the left and right colums and white background for the center. you can make your gradient tiles 1px high so it's a smaller picture to load in the browse.

hope that helps. :P
