hi everyone. I'm new, and just sort of started webdesigning ^^. i started from a print graphic design background, so i'm trying my hand at webdesigning. While i'm aware of some userfriendliness and limitations, I may have over looked some.

Anyway, I have here various mock screenshots of a website that i'm working on. Its based on a made up company called Rainmaker, who provide a service in raining making, by ritual or science methods. Not a great deal of text so far, so I guessing most of the text will fit on the page without needing to scroll. I would like to get everyones opinion on which design/layout is prefered and perhaps why. Feed back and suggestions most welcome :) thanks!

looks good, the only prob i see (and at 128x1024 belive me i see it) is thatat nethin above 800x600 you get it in one corner and all this white space, i would apply a bg color, and possibly center it if it was a webpage (white may even be the bg color but make sure u define it as white because some Browsers may apply a bg to the page if undefined)

thanks for the tip arcath. I'll keep that in mind :) little rusty on HTML, so might have to look up how to centre it when I come round to doing it^^.

Well a REALLY simple, way of centering it would be

<center>Content</center>

Not sure that is the most effective though :P

BTW, good stuff, I'd have to say my favorite is rainweb5

i normally use:

<div align="center">content</div>

normally because i define other things (e.g. styles)

thanks danieldaniel and arcath. ;) I'm pretty new on the web scene, so I think i'll be making the site fairly basic. Got a lot to learn ahead of me ^^.

They're nothing quite special, maybe a bit boring, but I do like that you keep it that simple. The logo is just brilliant!
I'd try to add some contrast to just that simple squares, but it's professional and nice.
Good job ;)

number 11 and 14 are the best
try adding something more to fill the webpage
maybe a hit counter or more text ;)
but it's ok, very nice clean design you got there

Great logo, good use of not only white space, but space in general. I'd have to say your first few ideas were your strongest, they seemed to get a little weaker as your layouts progressed.

I'm a big fan of simple (and blue) so these layout ideas really work for me.

Also good CSS center align would be:

margin-left: auto;
margin-right: auto;
