why on earth would you get a skin for something so unsafe to run?

i dunno. lol, but o well. i found one. thanks anyway. i used an InvisionFree skin, because they are the same version.

Simple answear, its old.

Since the year(s) it was released, people have been creating exploits. There are now so many its easy for people to find one to take ya down with =P

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't p2l get hacked not that long ago running 1.3.1? not a massive one I dont recall any data lost but they set the forums index so it was closed and changed some titles or something like that.

People are always going to find a way to hack your site. It doesn't matter what your running. Some things are just more secure than others. I'm trying to go for security without a big price. And I really don't want to move to phpBB...

P2L has been hacked twice that I recall once loosing all the members and we all had to reregister our accounts and the 2nd time they changed all the categories so none of the forums worked

This is true and no site is safe on the web everything is hackable, IPB 1.3 is no longer supported by IPB it's also no longer distributed by them, theres lots of different software around for Forums and each and everyone of them has security flaws even the simple ones.

haha, i owuldn't go for phpBB, i htink that running IPB 1.3 would be better . I just don't like phpBB, because I see alot of sites getting hacked using it, more than i see with IPB 1.3. And I know a lot of sites with them both. Also, the invision free forums are running on IPB 1.3 that is all it is. just edited the copyright. and got permission from IPB. They probably had to pay IPB to change the copyright, but that is all they did, to go for the cheapest route. Unless Invisionfree is IPB . Lol.

Well, I definitely wouldn't do Invisionfree because I actually want the forums on my site. Plus I've already made the skin for it, so I think I'll just stick with IPB 1.3... Because skinning is a pain in the...................

SMF is by far the best free board system atm, sod phpbb

IPB 1.3 isn't hta bad, if your site is just a small site and dosen't get a lot of hits. If your site is a site like P2L, or TutorialsFX, then you need something with ALOT more secruity. **** phpBB. If you were looking for something free, then SMF is prolly the best, but it is a pain in the *** to skin. BTW, and one have a tutorial on skinning SMF? I think I am gonna switch to it, from IPB 1.3, because IPB 1.3 dosen't have as many features.

big or small site I wouldn't go with 1.3 its still hackeble, best thing would be to buy the latest version or choose anotherone
