Hi everyone,

I am currently going underway with a new website but i need to be certain that i have done the right thing choosing PHP for a programming language.
Here is what I will need it for:
- Content Management System using a database,
- Contact Form,
- Set up a 'compare' feature on my website so that users can check a box and compare my products that they wish to compare.
- Intergrating my website with flash.

Thanks in advance for all help given, I will be very pleased with any help given .

PHP if your new (have i guessed right? lol) ASP if your not so new.

I'll admit i don't know much any ASP but meh.

PHP is easier and frankly more commonly used or content management etc so go for PHP (+you'll get lots more help because more people here *me* know php well )

Yeh a good idea is to go for PHP as you can find help with it almost anywhere, but on the other hand i spoke to one of the other web designers where i work who has a degree in many programming languages including PHP, ASP and Actionscript amongst others and he's been showing me some things which are different in ASP to PHP which has made me start learning ASP as he recommended learning ASP over PHP, i will note a few things down when i get chance at work. Anyway enough with the essay, i would personally go for ASP if your wanting to learn a new language, not as many people know ASP as they do PHP also, so that could benefit you if you want to become a little more well known around the web  ..either way they can both do the same job.

Well, as far as I know, I have not faced any problem that can't be solved with php, mysql, javascript, css and xhtml, so that's my recomendations.
Personally, I haven't found a great use for javascript yet, except maybe some ajax-things, but I recomend to start out with xhtml and css, learn about forms and stuff, and then go on learning php and mysql.
