So...what do you like about it etc etc, also if you've used any other Linux distros you wanna suggest as an alternative then please do.

I'm not a complete linux noob but i havent used a great deal either, so....speak! :P :D

Wow,what a coincidence, I ordered the CD's free and got them last saturday, tried it out yesterday for the first time, only the Live CD though, I really like it.

Thinking of partitioning my HD to install ubuntu aswell.

If you want the CD's you can order them free from www.ubuntu.org :P

Expected delivery time:.....6 weeks :P

My HD's only 45GB on my laptop, Only got 10GB left *sniff* but i will clear some junk if i decide to partition for ubuntu. I have used mandrake and knoppix before, knoppix was pretty decent, didnt like madrake (or mandriva it is now).

btw: whats the position on ubuntu and pcmcia wireless internet cards....? They work or...?

My laptop dual boots WinXP/Ubuntu Breezy Badger (on a 30Gb drive) and it usually runs a treat. I easily got my Ubuntu connected to my Mum's LAN, and had no major issues with my USB wireless dongle (although I know wireless cards are a problem for a lot of users).

I generally like it - it's not that different to Windows in terms of usability, but for some reason it's behaving incredibly slow for me this week. There's also a 'bug' (which might be related to the way I installed FF/Thunderbird) that means any links I click in Thunderbird do nothing. Firefox doesn't load the page, even if the browser is already open. I downloaded the latest versions with Automatix though, because I couldn't be arsed to manually upgrade (and the Synaptic package manager doesn't have the latest versions in Badger).

There are some links in my most recent blog entry that may interest some of you..

Dude; I would rather spend my whole birthday on the PC coding some AJAX into my website to make it better than doing anything else.

OK, so heres the story.

Downloaded, burnt, ran. Worked fine for about 10 minutes, at which stage my CD drive just kinda went manic and wouldn't stop until i hard rebooted. (the button lol)

First thing i notice, the boot sequence was wrong, it didn't check for a bootable CD.....So i boot up into windows and find to my complete annoyance my CD drive was gone!

So i check for it, try to install it again etc etc but to no avail. So i get into bios and apparently, its not there. Then it came back randomly! yay lol.

So again i boot into ubuntu, and again, the same thing. And again, i went through the same process and it came back randomly after a few reboots.

W.....T......F......

No way im trying it again yet, and the sad thing is i REALLY liked it, i mean a lot, looked great, i was then about to parition.

Oh and speed, Why is it "insane"? :P

Ok, so here we go, double post lol.

I got it working fine, think it may have been a problem with a loose wire or something...

OK, i love it lol.Its great, first impressions are all good, but i cant get pcimia network cards to work, which is a drag. Which means i cant use it fulltime yet, I know you have to use ndiswrapper, but its a bit beyond me. :P

I have Ubuntu on my pc which i use for most things. I got all the network cards and everything installed fine using ndiswrapper, Takes a while but it works great once its on.

Ubuntu is definatly the most user friendly version of linux i have used to date, but then i haven't tried suse 10.1 (downloading it now so should be able to find out tonight :))
