I found this tutorial, and if you scroll down a little you will come across the first image explaining how to get your brush to create that effect.
Well for some reason i can't get my brush to do that, and it's driving me crazy.
I have it set just as the image shows and it's not working.
HELP PLEASE!!!

If you are talking about these effects:

At the start he says he is using a Wacom Intuos 3 tablet, so I am assuming (never assume people its not a good idea!) when he talks about Pen Pressure Control when you press harder the colour is darker and when you push lightly its a lighter colour, very much like the effect you get with pencils.
I know nothing about graphics tablets except you use them to draw, so I would suggest taking a look in your manual, again assuming you have a graphics tablet, and figuring out how to turn it on, and if not contact the company and ask them about it.
And if you don't have a graphics tablet, then I think you are just going to have to go through the tedius task of changing the colour of the brush all the time.
Hope that helps
Matt

I'll just add, if you are good at drawing and you want to really be better on it a graphics tablet is a must have. They can be found quite cheap also.
