I a sorry to say this, but what a flop My-tuts has been. It is loaded with bugs and the layout/deisgn is poor. I have also noticed that Jay has again relied on the forum scripts to create most of his site.

After seeing P2L i would have taught that Jay would have been able to create the site from the ground up but guess what, he has again created a site using many others code and time!

I am sorry but it had to be said, just like this site he has relied on already built code and web apps to create his s called "self scripted" webiste.

Check out how many posts that he has made, near enought HALF of the whole sites forum posts...........

Huh? The entire P2L CMS is built from scratch. We merely display some items from the forums on the main page. In fact, it wasn't until later in development that we even bothered integrating the forums. The tutorial system itself is completely from scratch by Shao, and later rebuilt by Jay.

Not defending my tuts or anything, but P2L is most definitely not made from pre-made scripts.

Indeed, and also My Tuts is still pretty unique.. Saying it is self scripted may be an understatment on his part but its a great site.. plus I think the simplicity in the design is great and I like the fact that it uses a tag system to gain any kind of tutorial it may have as well as submission.. I for one this it will earn a nice college grade.. if thats what it was intended for.. :bs: Excuse me if I am wrong on any of the info or thoughts I am posting I have only been there once. :)

I don't agrre quite with it has been a total flop, surely much relies on the forums, but of course there are bugs, that's why My-Tuts is still in a BETA stage...BETA without bugs wouldn't be beta, so you have been warned...

The layout isn't bad at all, it is simple something which does take a while to get used to but it is really good actually. Most of My-Tuts is really about the idea, of tagging tutorials.

And of course he has made half the posts on the forums, the site is pretty new wouldn't you agree, do you expect a very new site, even from someone who has coded alot behind P2L, to gain a tremendous visitor base in only months...

one thing i have to say is that my-tuts is going with this beta fad (putting the word beta in your website headers is a big fad these days)

also i believe the forums system on my-tuts is custom made

I havn't seen much of the site, but how do you know he has used code already been built? Have you seen his source code? If you can prove it then please go ahead and show us.

I'm not standing up for Jay trying to protect my-tuts as I have nothing to do with them, but what I don't like is people slating someone's site when he has put a lot of time into it.

I wouldn't do it to someone, and I hope someone won't do it to my sites, but if anybody does slate my site they will know about it.

Well.. not on the topic of his website anymore but it isnt much of a fad.. they are just signifying that they are in beta stage ..just because they dont write when they get alpha stage or anything close dosent mean much.. and yes.. beta, is a word everyone likes for some reasonand it is popular to use and write but I wouldent go as far as a fad..Yea yea.. I wrote it on my site too.. :)

I don't want to get into an obvious 'here comes the argument', but here's a few simple points to address issues brought up on this page:
- Everything on My-Tuts is coded by myself, forum system, user system, 'tutorials system', publishing system.. everything
- Design improvements are being made and will be released to the public soon once they are finished to staff statisfaction
- We are in BETA because we want people to test and give feedback so we can better the site.. that's what BETA means to us. We'd rather have people testing in the open for 3 weeks than closing the site down to just staff for that time :)

Looks like I missed the party... I'll go ahead and lock this seeing as it's not really going anywhere.
