I remember having read some place that AJAX should work just fine in Opera, but when going through tutorials here at P2L, they only work in Firefox, not in Opera. Why is that? Do I have to upgrade my Opera (I'm using 7 now) to enable Ajax? And if I upgrade my Opera, will my tabs be closed?

AJAX only really works on Opera 8+ , as for your question about upgrading, i don't know as i don't use it.

I advise you upgrade anyway as your Opera is now 2 versions old.

Using the tutorials from p2l, not other sites, it might have something to do with the fact that they only have two ways of initializing that http object. I believe that there is a tutorial on sitepoint.com that has a different way of setting it which may or may not fix your problem.

Either way, i don't see why opera wouldn't have continued it's use of tabs in later versions, but i don't use it, so don't quote me.

The open tabs in your browser has to be closed before upgrading, so I had to write down every page.
Ajax works just fine now, the one here at twodded too. :)
