I had the pleasure of entering this scenic shot of towering rocks and a closeup of a flower in the P2L photo contest.

Although the photos didn't win, I am still interested in learning how to enhance photos in Photoshp. Should I lighten them, darken them? Should I adjust the hue, saturation, etc... Should I crop tigher? Or did I crop too much?

I think those feedbacks would be most helpful -- perhaps in future P2L photo contests :)

First off it matters what picture you have whether to lighten or darken them.. On these I would say lighten and for the flower bring out more of its color rather then the leaves.. one thing thta gives a foctus is a crystal clear blur effect that would really work on the flower.. now I dont know if thats the camera doing it or the photoshop end but it look great.. (not much of a photo guy).. now for the lake.. The boats look nice or whatever is there but umm I think you should take them out.. and if you look at the part where the ocean ends youl see its a tad slanted in a diagonal direction. I think you should make the line more noticable and then make the like straight.. because you would need miles of picture to see ocean decline or incline like that... ;) (i think)

The cliffs are nice but I would enhance the ocean more and make the cliffs brighter then it.. I would also make the green, nmoss or trees or whatever is on them all the green stuff more noticable.. and the shallow parts also.. brung out more of a hue on them.. I also think you should increase the brightness or contrast of the sky to make it look more vibrent with the water and give the cliffs more of a stand out kinda feel..

I wouldent go overboard on any of my tips.. My photos are nice but people like deadly should you get tips from.. :) If he even dose much to his..

One thing I tell any photographer trying to photograph any thing make your camera do all the work for you. If you can avoid having to edit your photos in PhotoShop it's a lot less work in the end. I understand that with some camera's it's hard to get the shot the way you want and some editing is required.

As far as your photo with the boats, it was a really neat photo. One thing was the horizon is a bit tilted. Always make a note of the horizon in a picture when there is one to be seen. You should always try to have it level in most scenery photos. I personally liked the orginal photo. The few plants in the foreground added some nice depth to the picture. If possible when you take a photo like this and there is something in the foreground to use, try to include a little more of it in the photo. It did need a little contrast adjustment, along with the horizon needed to be level, but other than that it was a neat photo.

Keep up the great job and you will be really pleased with the way your photos will turn out. :)

Best Regards,

Jason :)
