Well I need some help from you guys if any one knows. Sometimes when I'm on my pc windows explorer has to close, i get the error message up, asking me if i want to send error report blah blah, no matter if I click don't send or send my start button, desktop, and system tray at the bottom dissapear. Now this is so so annoying when I'm in the middle of something. Most of the time it doesn't come back untill I log off and log back on. So does anyone know how to get it all back without actually logging off? Or stop it happening atall.

Thanks!

Regards.!
^_^

Had the same problem recently (now running on ubuntu / buying a mac cuz i've got sick of M$.)

There are a few reasons why it can happen but tbh, the simplest thing for you to do is take your profile (documents, settings etc) create a new user and then just copy it over. This has worked for me in the past.

It would be difficult to establish where the problem is coming from and to pin-point a sollution, as it could be a number of things - especially because you get no specific error, just the 'send error report' one. It would probably be more time efficient for you to do what .Matt said and copy all your documents over to a new user, and start a fresh.

:D

if you are using WinXP, Windows Explorer should restart automatically when closed. it happens that it does an error, and it just close and restart explorer.exe. If its not restarting, then i guess its some serious error.

Yeah most likley is pretty serious :D PC's about 2 years old now anyway. I think I;m going to reformat when I get the time now, because I seem to be getting a few problems. Might be because I took my anti virus software off, anyhow its more than likley to my own fault :P

Achually if you click for details on the error on that pop up you get, then you get an error code which you could stick in google.

I have a similar problem, my explorer.exe crash from time to time, and then it restarts again.
You said yours doesn't restart automaticly, so to restart it press ctrl + alt + del, and then go to File >> New task (I think that's correct, but tell me if you don't find it as my windows isn't in English).
Then you type explorer.exe and it starts again.
This is not a permanent solution, but well, at least you can make appear the task bar and all that without logging of :D
I hope it works for you.

That's a simple one :)

Go to an explorer window, right click on the top bar and select address bar :(

lol, its there but hidden. just right-click then uncheck Lock Toolbars if checked. Then take the left border from "Address" and take it back to the beginning, the input will appear next to it.
