Hi all,
This is only my second post on Pixel2Life's forum's but I've used this site forever. Its a lifesaver! Just thought I'd mention that. :)
Anyway, I run a little fansite for an actress/singer and I've trying to do a new design. However, I kinda suck at making up designs. I've made a header I really like, but the menus and content area...well..I just don't know what to do. Here's my idea so far:
http://scarlettsweb.net/scar-day2.html
It's basically just a header.. :P I just can't think of anything I like. Does anyone have any ideas on what would look nice?
I'm thinking I want 3 columns, like this:

menu............|...........content area...........| other stuff like
google ads...|...........content area...........| counters, calendar affiliates, etc.

Minus the .....'s of course.

I'm not sure if I should do a table/html menu and content boxes, or images, or what. lol I'm so lost. Any help and/or ideas is very very much apprecaited.

I think the header is a little to big. If you can decrease the size then I think you won't have any problems with the Navigation. For the design that you have you should keep it simple with maybe a rollover...

ie: Home | About Me | Music | Contact

and add a rollover effect...

its probably best to localise your navigation. I.e at the top (below the header image) have 3 or so links Home, Contact, Community (if you have one, if not remove it) then to the left have your pages, i.e photos, songs, so on so fourth.. then right at the bottom you could have your affiliaties and at the right have your adverts. ut you have to expand the content box its really small.

best of luck,

Well, headers in fansites are usually big :)
About the main menu, I'd blend it in the header, lots of fansites do that (example).
If you use that kind of navigation, then you can split the content in two columns, one for content and the other one for other information, like projects, latest headlines and so (see for example this fansite to get what I mean) :D

:D fansite headers are mostly big because they are mostly based on photos rather than text conent, so there more artsy than most. :artist:
