The content areas looks like taken from the majority of tutorial sites at the moment. Try something new and unqiue for your site instead, this theme is getting too used by now.

I like the navigation, and the header too, except the pixel stretch, you should keep it repeating with the chess board, without the pieces of course, the grid. Not too sold on the content and left side bars and everything, just try change those a bit.

I prefer parts of this, to that one.
What else could I add to the template in post #1?

I absolutely LOVE the header, and the bg is pretty good too, but then again once you get down into the main content area including the main navigation and everything, it just seems you didn't really put much into it, just went with the style of many sites. But the header is very creative and just amazing to me.

I prefer the chess one
it's not flat, it's good, just need that fix that aussie said: keep repeating the chess board

also, I think it needs to be larger (1024 widht, as it's not a portfolio website..)

:P I dont know what I could do to jazz up the boxes.
And which is the third one?

I actually love the banner to the black one, but its too big, and the boxes are boring.

I have no idea when it coes to the content boxes

I really like your second one, its a bit different which is really good, but you do need some colour in there somewhere. I'd make the content box's headers different bright colours, and I'd stick with pinks and greens.
Also, I like the first site aswell, but I think the site needs a border, even a simple black line down the 'opacity line' would do the job. And I think the banner is a bit dull, and boring: It just needs something unique and interesting. The banner's is the first place someone looks, so make it more colourful and eye grabbing.
