I need to design a calendar for one of my clients, and they want you to be able to view events for a day on it. I was thinking of having like the event title, then when you click on it, in another frame on the page more information would come up. I think the best way to do this would be Flash, but is there a way to do this with JS/PHP?

I've seen free scripts out there for calendars using javascript and php so yes you can probably do it using that as well.
