I am working on a package design project and the package/Box needs to look like an old leather suitcase. I'm going for this look

I cannot find any tutorials on how to create a leather background in photoshop. any help is greatly appreciated. I am up against a tight deadline with this project and desperately need help. Please respond to this forum or [email protected]

Try this and go from there to adjust:

1.foregroundcolor choose: 185/170/150 (RGB) and background stays white

2. create new layer, select filter>clouds. reduce opacity to 50%

3. change foregroundcolor to the color you want for the brighter accents (f.ex. 236/144/31) , backgroundcolor still white

4. create new layer, filter render>clouds, mode to multiply and pacity to 68%

5. make backgroundlayer active, create new layer and change its name (for clarity) to "texture layer" , fill with white (background color)

6. select filter>noise>add noise (Gaussian, Monochromatic) amount of 175 f.ex. (this is on a file with resolution 640x480)

7. select filter>stylize>emboss (typically, angles 37° or 137° look best) height of 3 and amount 100%.

8. select filter>blur>gaussian blur (radius 0.9 f.ex. --> this determines the smoothness ot the leather)

9. filter>stylize emboss again and vary the amount or the heigt (4 f.ex.)for a more pronounced texture.

10. filter>blur>gaussian blur again with radius of 0.5 f.ex.

you can keep doing those last two till you get a little what you want.

the craquelure filter (filter>texture>...) also works fine here (after step 8).

thats bout it.
Cant do any better sry.
At least its a start.
