Advanced Signature Tutorial



Open a new document by pressing CTRL + N

Make 6 or 7 layers,

Brush over the 1st layer with black, then the second with white, press d to reset your colours, press x to switch between the colours.


Repeat until the 7 layers are brushed, set layers to overlay, darken or lighten.

If you need brushes search "Photoshop Brushes" on Deviant Art


Once you have done that you should have something like this:

Get a render, i will be using Sonic the Hedgehog


Copy it into your signature, and rename it original.

Size it down to your liking and place it in somewhere.

Duplicate the layer and Set the blending mode to soft light, Go to Blur, Gaussian Blur, set to 3.0, rename it depth and hide the layer.


Duplicate the original again, Filter, Blur, Motion Blur, Angle = -45, Distance = 40 px.


Duplicate this layer about 4 times, position them like this,


Set them to overlay, then duplicate the original layer again, go to Filter, Blur, Motion Blur, angle= -60, distance= 40

Set them to overlay again and

Position them like this.

Put all the brushed layers on then make a new layer, get up the paint bucket fill the new layer with black, set of soft light and put it under Original and depth.

Duplicate the original again CTRL + CLICK on the small thumbnail part, Press CTRL + ALT + D and enter 15


Add a layer mask and duplicate the masked layer twice.

Go to layer, new adjustment layer, colour balance, 3 times, change them to your liking, click the second top colour balance layer and go to filter, render, clouds, repeat with the top colour balance layer. You should have something like this:

Make a new layer, CTRL + A, then Edit, Stroke then apply these settings:

Set the border layer blending mode to overlay.


You should have something like this:

You can add a pixel stretch in. Duplicate the original render again.


Pick Single Column Marquee Tool

and select a colourful part of the render. Press CTRL + C, CTRL + V, CTRL + T, drag it along both ways.


Set the blending mode to overlay and put it just above the brushed layers.


Now click the text tool, I will be using a font called Triforce, you can download it from www.dafont.com.


Write your text, then click on this button

Pretty good, maybe you should try blending the render though...

Agree with BradyV,
nice background,
Foreground (i hate to call it render as a 3D user) could use some touch-up.

Little remark though,
(and this is just MHO)
Isnt it bout time now to change style, cos its getting a bit boring (and i am not saying your sigs/tuts are boring). Although its not exacly the same style, the end results are a bit similar.

The Background SHUCKS ( Sorry ) but its like too JAGGED and ROUGH

in your next sig try smooth stuff like my sig right now

The Font does not go with the sig and the render is not blended,

nice try tho keep going at it

The link one looks ok, the background is really obvious that you just used the link, over and over again. The cloud on the other hand is superb.
