Considering you have just made a nice looking template, and you don't want people to rip it, but you don't want them to thing it looks ugly.
In my opinion, using the first choice gets really annoying, because you just don't see the full template like it would be on a website
The second choice is a bit better, but still gets in the way
The third choice isn't the wisest, but makes some sense

I personally think that the 1st choice is the best
- If you make the transparrency for the pattern really low it dosn't really ruin the layout. It dosnt even have to be REALLY visible, aslong as theres somthing there with your name wrote on it visible even if you do have to zoom in or anything it can be at 90% or whatever but you know that noone will rip.
- No because it really does ruin it and it's more distinctive.
- Nah, quality is good, especially when trying to show off.

That is utterly useless. If they really want the layout, they can just view the source. And if that doesnt work, they can always "Print-Screen" using the print screen button on their keyboard or by a program that takes screenshots of your desktop.

you can make it so they cant view the source, by making the site go in a new window thingy, like those popup windows, then you cant view the source o.o; they can print screen though but that would take forever. There is no way to make it rip proof except...copy right it? XD

You can still view the source on any popup. If you dont believe me, link me to any site with a popup and Ill show you the source code.

Why bother? A couple of watermarks aren't going to stop anyone determined enough to rip your layout. Chances are, it's easy enough to reproduce in Photoshop (for someone ok at it).

There is no way to prevent ripping. Actually the only way to prevent ripping is create some super complex template, make it in flash and that should slow them down, and the background be your own with your logo all over it XD or something...@@ I dunno, there is no way so there is no discussion, Im leaving!

Depends how good the layout is and even the right click disabler javascript would be pointless, remember there is a button on your keyboard that does the right click which is not effected by the java script.
It's inbetween the right Ctrl key and the Windows key.

No right click scripts are a joke.....
Just watermark it, especially in areas where its hard to repoduce. But nothing is fool proof, i dont bother, they always get caught + my layouts are never made from photoshop so i dont need to to any great extent.

When making my template secure so people can't rip it I put low opacity watermarks with my name or whatever and then put slighly higher opacity scanlines on it to slow them down.
