As I continue to work and receive tons of emails and PMs (about 99% are notes of congratulations), a few people thought flaming me for whatever reasons was the way to go. It's a shame, because someone writing "I hate it" has absolutely zero chance of us doing anything to make that person enjoy the site a bit more than he does right now. It's a real contrast when you see people write in that they love the site, and include a paragraph or two about what they love. Then the people that don't like it have a 5 word sentence telling me off, with absolutely no hint as to what the issue is. It's too bad, because despite how encouraging and uplifting all the good feedback is, it's the people that don't like the site that I want to hear from and pick their brains. But I can't do it if you're just going to act like a 5 year old.

A great example of this happened a few days ago with a guy that emailed me this ubber pissed off sarcastic email about the Ajax (which any current browser supports) how we screwed over non-JS ppl be it browser limitation or javascript/ActiveX being disabled for security reasons. It was basically a flame, but from someone that knew what he was talking about from the looks of it. So, I actually wrote him back (he's one of the rare ones that actually sent me this kind of email instead of posting it on some other site's forum where I wouldn't see it) and he turned out to be a really nice guy with some accessibility concerns and some very wrong impressions on our motives for the Ajax content, and why we didn't preload stuff (he didn't realize we intentionally don't preload all the category icons so 56k ppl don't get killed on the homepage). We swapped some emails back and forth a few times, then eventually had him join in a group chat with myself and the P2L coders and we discussed his ideas and concerns. This wasn't a member or a friend of mine... just a random visitor who cared enough to be heard by the right people. And you know what? We worked right there on the spot to alleviate his concerns and made some changes based on his recommendations, and we're looking into ways of working in his other suggestions. Not only was this guy shocked at how we listened to what he had to say, but we even made some changes the same day we spoke to him!

The bottom line here is that we WILL listen to you, even if you are negative about the site's changes, but I can't do jack s*** if you're unable to come to me with a constructive email or PM. So, I invite anyone that has suggestions/concerns or recommendations to improve the site in any way to contact me, and I promise to get back to you and fully address whatever you sent me. Feel free to send me screenshots of any graphical changes you think would look good etc... I'll pass them around to staff and we'll check out your ideas.

Nothing is in stone here gang... you all use the site, so I value all of your feedback. But if all you can do is swear, you're just another spammer that gets deleted with all the rest.

So, please contact me, and for those of you that feel you're getting attacked by the P2L lovers, just send me an email directly at info at pixel2life dot com and it'll come straight to me or send me a PM.

Thanks again everyone for your patience and I'm really glad so many people love the new upgrade. It just kind of sucks to see people saying it's absolute crap, but don't give a single reason why. I already knew people would complain because change is always hated by people (just look at any workplace.. when management make big changes, good or bad, people generally hate it), but it still hurts to see it I guess.

Ok, done my rant :)

I actually saw one guy on another forum say to a guy that was bashing the site to contact us and tell us about his complaints, and the guy responded saying "What difference would it make?". That's frustrating, because it would actually make a big difference.

I love the way Pixel2Life is run Dan and I think everyone appreciates your and the other staffs sincerity when it comes to addressing any and all issues. The fact that you show that you care about what each and every one of us thinks makes visiting this website all the more worthwhile!

So to all of you behind the curtains at P2L, give yourselves a pat on the back...you've done a good job.

(ok, done inspirational speech)

<_< Pretty bad I have to come out in public to do this lol but you keep ignoring me if I mention it on MSN

Maybe I should make a Poll :)

Only thing I see that needs to go back to how it was when V3 was launched is the logo, it just doesn't look right, it's green. Keep the original pixel bowl and change the font Pixel2Life - Learning Made Simple or remove the glow behind the text.

*end rant and runs like hell*

Chaos King I need backup here lol

I don't see why kids hate changes (hint the word kids). I mean, its not in your interest to make the site worse by making v3. New version equals better stuff, cooler stuff, MORE STUFF!

/7 days into hammer time and still loving it.

I love it....everyone should love it! I mean, its sleek and stylish, what more could you want? The people that just sent you the stuff saying....i hate it.....should think about how much work has been put into it, and that they couldn't do anything close to it, so shouldn't complain. Anywho, i love it! great work to everyone on the project!

Well actually BigDog, usually adults have HUGE issues with change... kids usually adapt a lot better... BUT adults should be able to communicate their issues a lot better than a 3 year old.

Pepper, I'm in no way saying people shouldn't hate it... I mean, we busted our asses to finish this, but there's no question we can't make everyone happy. That's their right and everyone is entitled to their opinions... I just wish that people who feel it's important enough to be vocal about it would do so in a way that helps the situation, not get them on my ignore list.

People who criticize or say they hate something without offering a solution or alternative are like food critics. They sit there and eat food and say how crap it is, but there all failed chiefs or people who cant cook (did you get the analogy there? smart ey ^_^ )

In all honesty.. I can easily say..

I LOVE the site, the design, the coding, theres no errors (Only minor visual stuff), its easy on the eyes, an amazing colour scheme.. Whats ther enot to hate about it?..

Jealousy perhaps? I don't know.. but.. again i can honestly say i dont think theres nothing at all wrong with V3.. and i can sleep with a clear conscience tonight ^_^

Honestly.. i dont think you should give a second thought about those guys.. especially if they cant send a simply email, jeez.

But that guy who did send an email, thats a prime example of what sending an email can do.. instead of what you say about posting ona forum where no one from P2L Staff will read it..

I hope i made sense here :P

Ciao :D

EDIT: By the way Mooey.. Thats not true at all lmao.. My cousin went to Winchester University for three years studying American history.. He's now a food critic and very honest.. All critics have to be honest.. Otherwise the person they are crticising will never gain experience :P

Thats just one person dude :P Everybody I have met in my 31 years of being on this planet, be they professional critic or not, suck at what there criticizing. Its wide spread on the net aswell, look at people who say some sites suck, then look at there own work.

Its like football managers (or soccer ^_^ ), most of the managers were rubbish players in there day (most, not all)

What i'm saying though, its easy to crit something you havnt made because you never put the time and effort into it, so youve got nothing to loose at the end of the day :D

My opinion about 'Hammertime' is that it looks quite a bit nicer than the older version of P2L.

Changing the tutorial category menu on the left hand side was a bit confusing at first, but now I quite like it.

The only thing that I would say has 'slipped' is the ease of navigation. However, it's just a matter of time before I get used to it. I liked the old glossy buttons for twodded/the forums which have been replaced by the speech bubbles, the FAQ & Help (i) sign and the hammer/spanner Developer Tools sign. It would be good if you could space them out a bit and write where they point to (i.e. FAQ & Help, Developer Tools, Forums) underneath them, instead of having them appear when you hover over the images.

At first I didn't like the new look but it's grown on me so I quite like it now ^_^
I'll also get used to the new navigation system pretty soon too, so no major slips in my opinion. I think it'll just be a matter of time till most people get used to the new look.

Overall though, v3 has been a huge success in my opinion, especially the forums, they look a lot better!
Good work and keep it up!

wow, i could handle people not liking my site and giving suggestions on how to make it better but if my inbox filled up with hate mail that was only 5 words and did not give a suggestion to make it better i would go crazy and really i don't understand why some people hate this site its not like the users have to pay to be members or view tutorials

No worries, it's not that bad... for every 100 or so messages I've received about the new site, 1 or 2 are a negative trash talk email, so it's really no big deal. (I've received well over a thousand messages already, and some are from companies that actually make some of the software topics we have, which is awesome.) It still bugs me, even though it's such a minority.

Its nice, i think donna has a point with the bowl though. Also it would be nice to have the option to swap between the two designs. Because i really did like the subtle blues and gradients of the last version
