There is no iFrames. The so-to-speak young webmasters read all these articles on how bad iFrames are, which they are, and see a scrollbar in midlayout and think "iframes are bad!" If your going to post something besure to know what your talking about.

To make the layout cooler, i'd suggest some kind of javascript scrolling with your own custom arrows.

Exactly. I agree with your post in regards to iframes. However, you have to consider what the site's intent is.
For instance: Is the site owner going to even care about search engine submission? Does he care how it's viewed in IE vs FF for instance? Oh and what? It's going to load .3 seconds slower as opposed to w/o iframes?

Also where does this whole it's unprofessional theory come from. As with anything, it's all relative.

sideways scrolling /= nice.

a mix of alignments really detracts, as does a mix of corner styles. you've got some nice ideas, why not make them *really* work together instead of 'quite' work together.

Think he means...

1) He doesn't like side scroll bar (I don't mind, but I wouldn't really take the time to scroll cause I'm lazy)

2) The one box with rounded corners doesn't fit (I wouldn't have noticed to be honest) and mixed alignments are no good (but again, I didn't actually notice)

IMO, the only thing I don't exactly like, is that the nav reloads every time... don't know if you can fix that or not (I'm not much of a programmer so not one to judge) but I like how the site looks.

it's a div with overflow
but even if it's that, there is no reason for the use of it:

iframes and that divs are good for showing a looong content that would just make the page to be alot bigger than it is for nothing. YouTube use this way.

but iFrames for something you would like to read and scroll it easly without having to pull the scroll (some people still doesn't have scrolls at the mouse)

thats WHY I think it's so bad to use it. And even worse to put on portfolios, where your page must look very good.

Myoto: Is english like your 2nd language or something? haha.

The scrollbar is fine. I don't see a horizontal scrollbar but if its appearing on someone elses browser you might want to look into getting rid of that.

There really is no reason for iframes, ever. Now that there is AJAX there really is no reason for them. No matter what though the scrollbar in the middle of your content may slow down the viewer and cause them just to move on to there next search engine results or page. The scrollbar just there may take away some of its grace.

Yeah I was wondering how to do that. Is there a tutorial on it? I couldn't find one. I also checked the help files... tried looking through actionscript for some sort of a hint. Still no luck.

I haven't been working on the site because of school and I've been building an artistic portfolio.

Anyway, anyone know how to do that?

usually I would say loose the lil iFrame thing, but it works for your site. The site would look funky if it stretched only in that little spot. Probably make it so their isnt a bottom scroll bar just the side scroll bar.

other than that looks good
:P
