Here you can see the "Display and Filter Options" option, and the box is currently in a closed state:
Once you click on the "Display and Filter Options" option, the tool box pops open with various settings, which you can modify according to your browsing preferences:
The changes you make will occur right away, and there is no need to refresh. Just click save and it's done, and click close to shut the box down when you're done.
Here's what you can do:
Display Options
Tutorials Per Page: Change the number of tutorials you view per page. This includes the number of tutorials on the main page (latest tutorials added), category pages and the Source Site pages (paging pending). Pages like the top views and top rated won't be affected by this settings because they always show the first 30 records.
Display Avatars: For those of you on 56k, you might want to cut the images off to get even faster download times on the site. Simply select No, and tutorial avatars will no longer load within the listings, saving you between 20k to 200k per page load depending on how many tutorials you list per page!
Sort/Filtering Options:
You have two columns here, where you can set a primary and secondary filter to your browsing. So for example, you can sort by ratings, then by total views, and you can do so in ascending or descending order. We'll be adding new filters to these options shortly.
Reset Button
Are your records displaying weird and you just want things to back to default? Click the Reset button and all system default display options will be applied and saved to your settings.
Who can use these options?
The Display and Filtering options can be used and accessed by both guests and members!
Browser limitations
Currently javascript is required for this utility to work. We are working on a non-javascript version that will deployed shortly.
Add/Remove to 'My Categories'
The final option on this little toolbar appears only from within category pages:
This allows you to add or remove the current category you are viewing to your 'My Categories' listing, which is the first main category item on the left hand side category listing. In case you didn't see this feature, 'My Categories' is a neat tool that allows you to save your favorite categories to a single main category, instead of having to click on various areas to see them.
Hope you guys like this improvement! Please let me know if you find any problems or oddities.
Dan
