Ok so I have this picture frame from walmart, and i measured the little sample pic in it. It's 6x6 inches.
Now this frame has little metal bars across it dividing it into 5 pictures

3 on top measuring 2 inches wide and 3 inches tall. And two on the bottom measuring 3x3 inches each

So i get my 5 photos, make them the according size, they don't really look right...
I then open up a new document and make it 6x6. (I was gonna drag all my made photos onto this board and then print it)
And it's like.....waaaayyyyyy small.
What gives???
I print it out thinking that maybe my screen was just showing it wrong, it prints the same size as what's on my screen!
My brain is saying stuff like :P I mean come on, since when is 6x6 not really 6x6 lol.
I think it might have something to do with the pixels per inch or something. I don't know lol

Any clues?

~John

P.S.
I always made sure i was in 100%, so i know i wasn't just zoomed in or something.

when you make a new image you can change the dimensions unit... like...

make it 8 inch by 11 inch if you want,

Yesterday, when i responded, apoparently the site crashed.

Its got to do with the resolution allright...

suppose you got that frame and you measure it in photoshop --> you got 6x6 inch, right?, ... ... nope, wrong

In photoshop only thing that matters are the amount of pixels, so in this case f.ex., when your resolution is set on 72 dpi, this would mean that your frame is 432x432 pixels. So anything with this amount on pixels will fit in nicely.

But...
If you make another .psd file and you set the resolution f.ex. at 144 dpi, your frame (still 432x432 pixels) would be 3x3 inch. (4 times smaller), still a picture with 432x432 pixels will fit, but everything will just be a lot smaller.

I hope this explains it, cos the more i write the more i have the idea, this is not what your asking.
