I try to put gradient on the text in AI. But not sure why it is only black color. Do anyone know how to do it?

The gradient is there, but you cant see it till you go to
type > create outlines
You cant put gradient in type, but after you did everything you had to do, convert the text to outlines (not editable anymore then) and it can be manipulated as any other object in your document.
