I'm currently building the website http://www.psdesignzone.com let me know what you think. I also just skinned the forums at http://www.psdesignzone.com/forum/ I'm trying to build up a Photoshop based community
Let me know if you have any suggestions for improvement for the site or the Forum/Community.

Thanks

In my opinion there are just too many PS sites out now. You're going to have some tough competition. Your site isn't so bad though, except when i first saw your website, i thought "ok..where should i go now"

You just need to make your site a bit more navigationable, if you know what i mean

Your right about competition, especially with sites like Pixel2Life, and Good-tutorials. But I think my site can add alot to the Photoshop community.

imo:

text too small, put the google ads at the bottom not at the top! no-one cares which version it is, so dump that out, and make sure you're saying Photoshop, not Photo shop. A better header would be

Photoshop CS and Macromedia Flash/ActionScript Tutorials

get rid of the drum 'n' bass smilie *_*, he's not helping, and the 'side thingie' etc. you've got a relaxed appeal but don't show any content. I'd drop the poll, work really hard on CSS, and add some more text, then come back again.

sorry if this is too harsh, it's just that you have different fonts, different styles all over the place, and you obviously have potential!

life is an ocean, sail it? doesn't worth with a picture of wood............maybe the message is 'can't see the wood for the trees'? istock, shutterstock, bigstock etc will provide you decent shots at a low price. use them or hunt for free stock photography.

I hope you take this as constructive rather than destructive, you have a good logo and some good ideas, but the site just seems to be lacking a 'coherent' approach. It's not feeling or looking like a 'v3.1' site yet.

best wishes,

John

Just partially quoting you but it's very well known if you put ads at the bottom of page you may as well not have them on your site, they are placed at the top so people see them.

Did you make that joomla template?

and you need to reduce the hight of your adverts its stupid. you might as well call the website Adsense since compared to your content thats all i see.

Looks pretty good. I think, as long as your website isn't a tutorial indexer than it doesn't matter if it's a tutorial website. 9/10

Hi Donna,

I put this in the 'somewhat agree' pile - having run adsense campaigns on a few websites and being an Adwords Certified blahblah, I can say that they do work there, if that's where the viewer wants to click on them. On a badly functioning website, the Google ads usually get clicked on first as being a 'maybe this would be better than where i am now' escape. That was just the result our of study group :P

most google ads are only clicked because the person believes it to be part of the conent, hense why most sites also add small thumbnail images to them.

P2l and the site above do it.

If the person knew they were adverts they would most likely look the otherway.

I custom programmed the Tutorial listings in PHP, the difference between Mambo and Joomla is that Mambo is no longer open source (i.e. it will start being commercial and you will have to pay for newer versions) Joomla is Open Source and going to stay free, the way I like it :P I used to use Mambo too.

go to Joomla.org for more info
