Quick Questions for everyone.

Im wondering whats in demand from the web-design world.

After taking a little break from the whole design seane i lost basicly all my skills and im grasping them all back. but im wondering if i can make a profit off of starting from scratice and re-learning things over again.

So what im tying to ask what are people wanting:

Examples:
Flash designers , php coders ect ect

Fill me in everyone and tell me why and if you can where to start ( dont say p2l ^_^)

please and thank you

-z

Flash Designers = No unless you have some good skils
Web Designers = Too many but you can still have many small jobs there.
PHP Coders = In big demand, easy to get jobs.

It's obvious that PHP will require some more work and learning than Design...

+ ROR is becoming increasingly wanted :) There are reasonably small amounts of people who *know* ROR compared to php which makes it a good language to learn. Also ASP for larger companies.

Doing freelance will help me through uni hopefully anyway :P

I doubt that :P Both are completely different fields, but at the same time offer endless learning experiences. Award winning sites, graphics that rock your socks off, are extremely hard to make. Same applies to custom PHP coding at a high level.

I think the question by the topic starter is pretty irrelevant, as we cant decide what YOU should be talented in. Explore your talents and develop them. If you're good at it, you'll get work, no matter how big the competition is :)

Good luck!

I didn't mean that at all, I think the design is a lot more important then the coding, but it is in demand for CSS and Xhtml valid sites, which he was asking what is in demand... I simply answered his question. Like I said, design is more important, but why not make it valid coding showing you are a good designer and coder...

Flash sites seem to be dying more and more they are still around but they seem to either be really awesome or nothing, I have no problem with really nice flash sites like 2advanced.

and yes PHP is in huge demand, speaking of which i should get to learning some more lol.

The most popular nowadays in my opinion is:
- CSS
- Web 2.0
- PHP
