Edit: Crap, forgot to mention in the topic that £1200 is EXCLUSIVE of VAT (as I know a few people with a registered VAT buissness)

Okay, so I've been working hard and saved quite alot of money. It's time to buy a Laptop (which I've secretivly ALWAYS wanted). I will be using it pretty much for "college" (in the UK) as I am taking a National Diploma in Graphics Design and Digital Media (really looking forward to it aswell!). I feel I would benifit from a Laptop highly throughout the course and into Uni (or wherever life takes me).

As I want it for a long time, I've decided to buy quite an expensive one (£1400 is really expensive for me!).

I will probally be using it for "the usual" - Photoshop CS2, Cinema 4D & Gaming (to an extent).

I've been eye-ing up (no computer vs sexual references please :)) the Alienware: Area 51 m5550. It's got a shit hot case, from a reliable company and has a pretty damn good spec for a notebook!

Alienware.com said:

15.4" WideXGA 1280 x 800 LCD with Clearview Technology
Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition with SP2
Intel® Core™ Duo Processor T2500 2.0GHz 2MB Cache 667MHz FSB
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 667MHz
256MB NVidia® GeForce™ Go 7600
80GB 7200 RPM SATA with NCQ
DVD-Burner: 8x Dual Layer DVD+/-RW / 24x CD-RW Combo w/Software
Internal Intel® PRO Wireless 3945 a/b/g Mini-Card
Razer Diamondback Mouse

I decided to ask the P2L Community if there is a better laptop I could get for the same or lower price?

I saw one in a magazine, however the company didn't look very reliable and I heard some bad reviews. This is quite a key issue, that the company is reliable as I've had some bad experiances and it's alot of money to waste.

Any other information or any help anybody could provide would be greatly appreciated!

Hope everyone is well,
- Adam

I always say to my students: wait till theres one that comes out in a certain store here (but dunno if it exists in your country). For its price its really good, and since (especially laptops) your pc is outdated the moment you buy it, you'll want to buy another one in 3 years max anyway. (store: "aldi")

Don't buy alienware laptops for value for money lol. (as Donna said, 'pretty cases' are about there limit).

Anyway, if you got the money, this is what i would go for:
