Hello

I was following a Tut on Mick M and you have to use the alpha channel to get the rounded effect you desire but i want to move the shape and take it out of that channel so i can edit its color but i can only see it in alpha and when i try to turn off the channel my shape disapears and shows me the origonal shape i made with the polygon lasso tool any one has any advice?

An alphachannel by definition is greyscale (b/w) not colored, since is showes you what will come tru and what not, simplier said: alphachannel = selection: black = not selected, white IS selected, all greys are partially selected, so if you blur f.ex. the alphachannel, the parts will only be partialy selected, and when you fill with a color, you get that rounde effect.

So, if you really want to move the shape, After you created the alphachannel, do the following:
1. make sure your layer isnt locked (only one locked is backgroundlayer, so it should be ok)
2. load the selection (selection > load... or simplier: ctrl+click the alphachannel)
3. click the little icon that says "add vector mask" at the bottom of the layer palette (thus you have to go back to the layer section, if you were still in the channel section of the palette)

What you have now is a mask (which basicly is the same as a alphachannel, but linked (by default) to the figure. You will see that he made a seperate alphachannel, but normally you can blur and edit as much as you want now, without going to the channel section: just click on the mask. Afterwards click back on the colored icon to change color, move, rotate, etc...

Hope this helps with what you want (didnt read the tut, so i dunno what tut it is)
