While we wait for the forum skin to be completed and I take a break from playing with layouts and stressing about the site in general, I've been working hard on the actual content of the site and getting things caught up a bit. Playing around with the layouts is all fine and dandy, but lets face it... people are here for tutorials, not to look at pretty pictures :D

So, I'm pleased to let everyone know that I have now caught up on tutorial approvals and we're back to the 7 day standard wait, although I plan to catch up on that as well. Submissions are way up, so there's more to look through each day. You'll notice that there is a new tutorial posted on the main page every 30 minutes pretty much on a constant basis lately. In fact, there's about 30 sitting in the queue to go live as I type this.

I'd also like to congratulate the community on an overall improvement on the tutorials that people are creating lately! I've definitely been accepting a lot more lately than I have been refusing, and it's certainly not because I've relaxed the approval standards or anything. So that's a really great thing to see, because it means I spend more time adding new tutorials than sifting through stuff that's not too hot. Well done guys, a round of applause for everyone ^_^

I also hope that new webmasters are taking advantage of the new email notification system we've added to the submission process. When you submit a tutorial, you can now include your email address in the form, and you will receive an email letting you know that your tutorial has been approved, or if it's been declined and why it was declined. I've been adding and detailing the reasons for declines, and I will also be updating the FAQ areas so that webmasters have as much information as I can possibly provide over the next couple of weeks.

Thanks everyone, and I hope you enjoy the steady flow of tutorials :)

Thanks,
Dan

I have a very special request please.....

Can we please stop using the term "forum skin." It just sounds to close to another term that's not very pleasing.

thank you :P

Yes, I agree that tutorial quality is much better.

And Dan, Are you the only person who approves/declines tutorials?

Adam

I usually help sift out the dead/unwanted ones but haven't since the new layout went up but Dan is the main person doing them.

I personally, Have seen a steady balance of well written tutorials in the past few months. Back when, I remember some of my friends, where trying to put bogus tutorials on a site and submit them and then complain days later it was rejected :D

Im glad to see original tutorials. Alot of them have helped me in recent work.

Then they've been declined I'm afraid.
