Welcome to my tech signature tutorial! this tutorial was designed for
Novice graphic designers with a small knowladge of Photoshop and most
of its tools.

Preveiw:

Now, we should start off by creating a new document, I will use
400x150, this size is a great size for tech signatures! Now lets
get ready for the steps of this tutorial!

1. Create a new layer and name it Techbase, this will be the background
of your signature!

2. Press "D" to reset your colors, now press "Backspace+Alt" to color
your background with black.

3. Go to layer>>layer options and add the following settings, feel free
to mix it up a little bit and add some difference though.

**Images Here**

Note: On the one below, you are going to kind of have to make that contour yourself.
Its pretty easy though and I will show a picture below it. :)

**back to more layer options**
Posted Image
You also have to create this for the gradient. You may want to save it though. ;)
Posted Image

TiP: Now we should save the pattern so you can use it in the future. You
do not have to do this step though. :) go back to the blending options
for that layer and above Options youll see a slot called "Styles" you
should click the new styles button and save it. Do this to every pattern
we make in this and youll never have to make them again!

4.Now, we must make the metal look good so take out a grunge brush and
make sure your forground is black, make a new layer and brush all over it until
you have somthing similar to this:

Posted Image

5.Now we want to put the blending options to Overlay and change its opacity to
about 30%. Your metal should now be brushed.

6. Now we are going to add some metal indents the simple way, don't
worry, once you learn this it takes five seconds to do so you can produce
a signature a minute lol. :)

-Make a new layer, name this layer Indentone. Take out the pen tool and make a shape similar to this:
Posted Image

-Now take your brush tool and make it one pixel, go back to your pen tool
and "right click>>stroke path", use brush. Go to "layer>>Blendind Options"
and use these settings:
Posted Image

-Now go to "layer>>new>>Group" Drag your pen tool layer into the group in your
layers pannel now. right click and "merge" the group..

7. Take out your Polygonal Lasso tool, or the peen tool and trace over the line in your indent.
It should look like this because this step may confuse you. :)
Posted Image

-Now Press delete and you have yourself an indent!

8. Take out your eraser tool and reset your brushes to defults, use
one of your feather efefct like brushed (the blury looking circle ones)
and make its size 15-20, change the opacity and erase a little bit of the indent so it looks
connected a bit more. This is purley choice but it adds greater effect.

9. Duplicate your indent layer and press "ctrl+T" Hold shift and make your indent
smaller, now move it below your first one and your graphic should now look like this.
Posted Image

10. Merge the large and small indent together. Duplicate the layer, press "Ctrl+T", right click.
Find "flip horizontal" on the menu and click it.That may have sounded tricky but it isnt.

11. Move this layer to the oppisite side and and you now have two sets of indents. Now merge them just like that!

12.We are now going to add a top and bottom for the graphical interface, take out your pen tool and make a
shape sorta like this (on a new layer of course):
Posted Image

- Now right click, make selection and press "Backspace+alt".
- Duplicate the layer
- Press "ctrl+t" and flip horizontal.
-- *Move it till it looks like this:
Posted Image

*Note: you may have to do another free transform once they are both merged to get it streched enough.

13. go to "layer>>Layer Options>>" and add these settings. :)

**For the pattern, you will want to use "Rock Patterns" and use the marble surface one. (Defult)

13. Move this layer to the right above the brushed layer second from the backgorund.
- Make a new group.
- Drag the Techbase layer and the brushed layer, aswell as the new layer you just made into it.
-Merge the group, and get out your blur tool.
-Blur the new layer into the background at its base in this area:

15. Time to add the orb and wires! Create a new layer and get out your circular selection tool.
Put a circle in the center of what size you want the orb to be, now fill it in the color of what
you want the color of the orb to be, but darker because the orb needs a few opacity layers. ;)

16. make another new layer after you get that done and make a circle in your circle like this:
Posted Image

- Take out your gradient tool and set its options to "White to opacity" and make sure you are on the
regular gradient.
- Drag the gradient from top to almost bottom till you have somthing like this:
Posted Image

- Now make a new layer and hold "Ctrl" and click the picture on your circle layer.
Take out your radial gradient and drag it from bottom to about 4/7th of the way :)

set this layer to overlay and you may have to lowe the opacity. then lower the opacity on the
first layer above the circle too until it looks good. Here is what I have:
Posted Image
(Ive added a few extra things, just so aslong as your looks kinda similar).

17. Make yet another new layer and press "ctrl" and click the circle again, now go to "select>modify>Expand" and
add 6 pixel expand. Use the same style as the first layer, (I really hope you saved)

now press "ctrl" and click on the circle again, press delete. You now have a holder for your orb.

18. Go back to your orb layer and go to "Layer>Blending options" and add these settings.
Posted Image

* This will make the orb look like its actully rounded and in there.

19. Now it's time to make some wires, please refer to my previous tutorial for this. Here is a lInk:
Clcik me

and you are done! I hope this tutorial has tought you a few things and how to use things more in depth.

Pretty neat, would look better without the black line through it...

One of the better metal tutorials iv seen around! There are just two things in the raytracing that bothers me, as the light is coming strongly from a 12o'clock ~80 degree angle(0 beeing the "camera"), judgeing from the specular in your orb and metall area. Both sides of the top part should have equal lightning but as it is only the left side is lit up. And 2nd its minor however the middle indents should cast harder and somewhat longer shadows as they are hard edged and the as the light is from souch angle the specular wouldent pick up again untill it exeded the reverse zdepth (meneng thowards viewer) of the indents top.

Its exelent usage of the layer styles and it can be applied to all kind of materials you wish to have stick out as long as you have a good eye and a artistic sence for it and that is how we like it. :D

And get that wire of there, its in the way of my view!
