3ds max logo tut

welcome by this tutorial about making a nice and 3d design layout

step 1.
Begin with opening 3ds max
and op en an new scene file>new...>new Scene>cheking New All>Ok

step 2.
Klik on the schapes in the panel

step 3.
Now after u have done that u see text in the many possebileties. klik on it

step 4.
U type in the text: box PB with cappital letters or any 2 letters u want.
Then u deside where u want 2 put the letters.

step 5.

Now u go to your modifie pannel and in your modifie list u see extrude klik on it
extrude the amout: 14,5 and 1 segment.

step 6.

Rotate the letters 90 degreese on the y angel after u have dont that where gonne ad a metirial 2 it.
Open up your material list and in the next step i will show u witch one to chose.

step 7.

klik on the standerd button in the screen then press mtl library then big bleu ball then scroll down to the metal gelvanize material. and chose it.
Click on the material again and now drag it on to the letters.

step 8.

First ad a lite to the scene a Omni light click on the light button and put shadows on.
Put the light where ever u want to be it pritty'st

Now lets render the text first go to rendering>enviroment...>then change the color to white.
Then click on the render button on the top right corner and render your letters. and your done

Well its a nice and simple tutorial but it isnt realy where its supposed to be im afraid. This be the "2D" gfx app forum :P

Im interested in creating an effect similar to the logo in the banner @ http://www.talkfreelance.com . My logo will be attached to this post. Basically the glossy realistic effect using 3ds max 9..
My other issue is that I have tried to import my illustrator file to 3ds max and it is an improper file format that exceeds 255 characters.... I tried saving the ai in many different file formats including saving it as an illustrator 3 .ai and opening it in notepad and formatting the word wrap - but no success..... Any help in this issue would be greatly appreciated....

Make sure in Illustrator before you save that you expand your Object or text. If you have any blends or the what not, 3D max won't read it properly. Expanding it will make it into individual layers that Max can read. Also be sure to save it as Illustrator 8 or below.

Beneath Illustrator 5 format even:
so export .ai (Illustrator legacy option) rather then "save as..."
