I'm using Adobe GoLive as it came with the premier suite I purchased a few years ago. Only using source and preview mode, works pretty good. Only disadvantage is that it shuts down as soon as I open more than 10 files while having Photoshop open, weird bug..

Not sure if you have ever even heard of it or not, but you might want to have a look ever this. It's an open source editor that works quite well, and best of all it's free. However you would do much better for yourself further down the road to start coding by hand initially, and teach yourself the basics. Wysiwyg editors in general usually just end up making a mess of things in the long run and creating some very bad habits. Again the laster part of that is just personal opinion so take it as you will.

;)

Code view in dreamweaver is like Notepad^2. You type, it lists tags and attributes that you can use. It has all of the CSS properties in one little menu so you can at least learn by trial and error what everything does. And it's a pure and simple dream for php (color coding makes it EXTREAMLY easy to spot errors...).

Looks quite good.

However Notepad Rocks :(

Notepad or Notepad++? Personally for hand coding i actually use the ultraedit/ultracompare combo as I use the compare for upgrading most of the sites I maintain.

Dreamweaver in my opinion is the better option. BTW red dragon that problem you described may be to do with you not having enough virtual memory to run photoshop and have 10 files open on adobe go live. Or not lol. :P

Dreamweaver is better than GoLive imo but because they're from the same company now.. I see somewhat of a merger coming on which will cause web design as we know it to a grinding halt and BOMB here comes satan! :flowers:

GoLive will be retired by Adobe - Dreamweaver 8 is the best 'hand-coding' tool for the PC. If you can't afford it I suggest using NotePad++. If you're on a Mac, there are some great open source tools, especially for Rails coding.

I've always used Dreamweaver and it works for me. I have seen some of my friends use it but I just never bothered trying it.
