Hey guys! :D

So, you got Director, you have opened it up and BAM.. Stuck, right?

Well.. Im here to show you how to make the most simple animation in minutes!

So without further ado, I give to you, the most simple Director tutorial on the net :P

Opening the new project

Just simply do what the image is doing, nothing hard!

Posted Image
Now right click the stage and hit "Stage Properties" . The stage is basically the white area where all the action will take place.. You'e the director of this "Movie" if you like.. Hense the name ;) And the stage is your working area, you control the movie.

Posted Image
Now that you have the stage properties open on the right side, just do what I have done in the image. I have used a nice grey colour.. Easy on the eyes, not too dark not too bright.. You can use absolutely any colour you desire, but Im using grey for this tutorial :)

The Movie

Right, the stage is set.. But you need your moving object.. So for this tutorial i will just create a ball and you can do the same if you wish :)

Creating the ball

Select the fille ellipse tool

Posted Image
Change the fill & Stroke into something nice and easy on the eyes im using a nice default green for this tutorial.

Posted Image
Now, while holding shift, draw a nice small circle like the image..

Posted Image
You will notice that the shape will be added to the cast.. Get it? Everytime you add a symbol/object it gets added to the cast.. like a movie.. So now its added to the cast list.. right click it and hit Cast Preferences like the image..

Posted Image
Now you can edit any of the three tabs that I have highlighted red and edit them to your needs, it doesnt really matter what you rename the cast member as long as you recognise that name as that object.. like Dog is to Stage name: Woof or something you will remember.. Just keep it simple :)

As you can see, the ball has been added to the frames. 30 Frames isnt enough for this ball, so go ahead and drag the last frame to 40

Tweening (Making the ball move ona path)

Posted Image
Right, go ahead and click Frame 1 of the ball frames.. You will notice a small ball appear next to the ball you have created

Posted Image
Now drag that small ball to the opposite side of the stage like so..

Okay, now the ball knows that it has to move along that path.. So go ahead and hit "Play" And you will see the ball move along the path :)

Okay, is that it? no way!.. Thats just the beginning.. The ball will move on the path no matter how crookied the path is.. so go ahead and insert a few key frames on frame 10, 20 and 30 like so.

Okay, noticed those little balls appear on the path? Go ahead and drag them up and down so you make a cool wave.. Posted Image

Okay, now you need to Ease the tweening in and out.. So right click frame 1 and scroll down to Tweening..

the ball needs to ease in and out..

So right click Frame 40 and click Tweening and copy what I have done in the image:

Hit play, and the ball will drop quite fast and sart to slow down as it reaches the top..

Keep playing around with Director and just making simple paths while I make the next level of tutorial.. Perhaps a walking man :o :P

Also: If you want the ball to stop moving at the end, just add a blank keyframe on frame 41

Post your results! Heres mine: http://psdoutlet.com/tutorial.dcr

Enjoy.. I hope this was easy enough for you!

Laters :D
