I'll try it first...
EDIT:
1. copy picture (ctrl+c)
2. choose new file in photoshop and accept the dimensions hes giving you, he knows you want to insert the copied picture, so he already took the right dimensions
3. ctrl+v
4. make sure your rulers are visible (if not, press ctrl+r)
5. drag a horizontal and a vertical guide line (as precise as you can --> zoom in first at 200 - 300%) at the borders of the round logo
6. choose circular selection tool and drag from one corner to the other of the guidelines you just drew
7. choose select > contract and type 1 pixel
8. choose select > feather and type (you guessed it) 1 pixel
9. INVERT selection (plz dont forget)
10. press delete
voila first part done. Now...
11. select the magic want tool and make sure in option toolbar to unchect "continous", leave antialiase on (it was better i tried it)
12. select right part thats still white and delete
13. do the same with the lower part.
Now only thing thats left is the most difficult and timeconsuming:
14a. magic wand tool same as previous --> click left white part
the selection is good to start with, but there is far too much selected
14b. zoom in (scroll mouse and move page by pressing spacebar and dragging with mouse)
14c. lasso selection tool (yep i am afraid you'll need to manually change selection)
while selecting: press shift to add to selection and alt for deleting part of selection
in options toolbar: feather = 0 and anti alias on.
The more you zoom in --> the more time consuming, but the more exact it will be
After doing all that, try to delete, and undo and try to do the same after feathering for 1 pixel --> just choose whats the best.
EDIT2:
since logo is a straight line --> in the last part you could use the polygone selection tool instead of lasso selection.
sry bout that.

Choose in which there is the greatest contrast between the background and the picture. Duplicate that channel, and turn all other channels off. Using Levels, Brightness + Contrast and the burn and dodge tools (alternating between "Highlights," "Midtones" and "Shadows" modes), increase the contrast until it is almost completely black and white.
Now, with the Wand Tool, select the white area background areas, switch back to your layer, and hit "delete."
