G'day All,

Today I purchased Adobe Creative Suite and installed all the software, it slowed my computer down somewhat, so I decided to uninstall some of the software programs I thought I would not use with web design. I'm sure there is many of you with this suite, and was just wondering which ones you would recommend for web design and which ones I should uninstall. I only want the absoulute necessary for web design.

My thoughts

- Photoshop
- Illustrator
- Dreamweaver
- Flash
- Adobe Acrobat
- ImageReady

Thanks

no, no lol... he was listing the apps in the package and wants to know which 1's he should keep in order to web design...

the only 1 i would really scrap is acrobat tho...

ps is essential in my eyes if u want to enhance ur websites with graphics... dw is handy if u arent all that good at markup and flash is good if u can b bothered learning it but it not exactly necessary for web design, illustrator i havent really used... and image ready comes with ps in cs anways as far as i'm aware :P

If you're doing nothing else but web design, I'd keep only Photoshop and Dreamweaver.

But if I were you, I'd keep all the programs and just buy additional RAM instead.

i wouldnt deinstall anything, since they all come in handy sometime r another.

But i dont think they are the ones slowing down your pc though (only at start-up maybe, but not sure).

yeh, none of the products really slow up the machine..
either you have a conflict with the machine, or not enough memory..

Greg just said the right stuff.. :)

Yeah, its not super slow, I just noticed a little bit of a change like when I restarted the computer. Anyway I will probably only use photoshop, dreamweaver and probably illustrator, wouldn't take much to install the others if I really wanted to use them. Anyway thanks for the help guys it's much appreciated.

Kind Regards

Another thing that will speed up the load time of PS (starting up the program) is making sure before you end a session, you load the standard brushes and the standard styles. Many custom styles and brushes tend to slow down loading time a bit.
Also make sure after first start up to go to the preferences > scratch disk and have a empty partition of min erm... i would say few Gig. I have mad ea seperate partition on my disk specially for PS.
