I have however taken 1 floppy and right clicked on it and click format, and then click create a MS-DOS startup disk. Well that is great bow when I start up my PC with the floppy and my CD it says

yep its called a clean install and usual the only right thing to do after you had severe trouble (virus f.ex.).
Only thing is: you will loose everything, and i mean everything, also all your e-mail addresses in outlook (express). So i hope you made a backup of everything.

Don't be silly.....

Why fresh install when you can just repair or reinstall windows, the only problem here is booting from the disc. Firstly are you sure your disc isn't bootable? (sounds silly but you may not have your CD drive set as a boot device in bios)

If you have, then try:
D:\setup.exe

I don't think that will work but tbh i can't think right now.

Else i say just boot into linux and make a bootable cd, or download the floppy version as you said. I mean how much are floppy discs? what £2/3 for 10 nowadays?
