None that I know of, it is pretty hard to do unless you know a bit about how vBulletin works. Takes some fiddling.
To get things like you see on any eXtremepixels skin, you have to edit the templates so ALWAYS have the default skin active just incase.

I agree, a tutorial like this would be damn cool and very useful. Plus you'd be one of the few who have actualy wrote a tutorial for this!

There are a few tutorials, none good of course, but there are some. Any 'experience' I have with vBulletin is trial and error, which is how most learnt I think.
www.vBulletin.org is a GREAT resource, but you have to be a valid vBulletin license holder to access the forums (and right now the site I work for's license has lapsed, so no vb.org access..
).
