All of these could be done in any 3D-design program.
The first one has got C4D written all over it (looking at the shader), but the others could be done in any 3D-program:
3DSMax, C4D, Carrara, Lightwave etc.

Its not the object itself that makes you say "wow", but its shaders/texturing and lightning (cos otherwise you can use a free 3D-program to make them --> there mentioned in our 3D section)

Before you spend a lot (and i mean a lot) of monney on such a program, try the free ones first to see if you like 3D-modeling. Dont worry too much yet bout how they made there shaders, cos a lot of ppl get disappointed when they start modeling.

I'll try to make a similar example.

EDIT:
I have to admit i didnt want to make same thing, k
here is a logo, without the textures/shaders applied
The shape was originally drawn in Illustrator, then imported and extruded in Carrara.
No shaders applied, but i cheated a little by using a technic called hdri.

anywayz, this is the result in bout 15 mins (10 of which for rendering on my slow pc):

Someone needs to add some hyper nurbs to their S
lol
Fireworks is a good program for web design, not heavy weight on memory and can do all the basic stuff Photoshop can ;)

hehe, totally agree l3lueMage.

Fireworks is my choice. Easy to use and not limited to only applying filters like Photoshop.

Scythar, your logo definitly needs some HyperNURBS...
Also, you mention HDRI techniques... i don't see any use of it... ;)

Adobe Illustrator CS2 also has 3D effects you can apply as well.

héhé,
nope, it doesnt need hypernurbs, since it was intentional (and it was made in Carrara, which doesnt really works the same way C4D does)

It was a 3D scene without any light (i mean there was not 1 light present) applied, i use this technique, when i just want to show the model, without any shaders and textures applied.
So the fact you see the object and it is not pitch dark, was by applying hdri)

Here is another example with same settings (no light):

I would recommend Adobe Fireworks 8, Adobe Illustrator CS2 and 3D Studio Max for 3D modelling.
