Yesterday I registered a domain. I've mucked around trying to work out what settings i need to change for it to go to my webserver. Ive set up the same thing for a friend using zoneedit and it worked fine. I would prefer to do it through my registrant though since i'm paying for it from them. Heres the screen I'm getting:

and when i click on "Create A Name Server Host" it goes to this:

What would i do to tie the domain name to my server?

You should ask your webhost as sometimes you need to also add the IP for some registrars.

Well asking us is pointless as we don't know the IP's

If you have to use a nameserver and an IP your hosting provider should of given you those details when you put the domain onto their webhosting.

Ok well thanks for the help... I know the IPs thats not the problem. The server is mine where the webpage is hosted. I just don't know where to put my servers ip. So that the domain is tied into the website. I have the DNS primary and secondary host already saved by my domain register into that config page.

Did the guys that set up the server for you register the name servers yet?

Otherwise do you see Manage child name servers? or something like that as there are usually 2 places one is for the nameserver the other is for the ip's

Sorry cannot be of any more help than this.

I set up the server which holds webhosting, my domain registar activated the domain right away and told me it was ready to modify the dns settings. The only settings i have are the ones in the pictures above and i can't see a "manage child name servers" or something similiar to that anywhere. Thanks for the help though.

I did try something on this page though:

Under where it says "Create Host" i put "www" in the first form field which is followed by domainname.net and under that i put my web servers ip address. I don't know if that will work it was a total guess. I spose i'll have to wait 24-48 hours.

Are your dns settings correct on the server? I presume when you say server you mean a full dedicated server? If it is then ask the guys where you purchased it from to double check they are correct sometimes if a box is not cleaned properly it will leave the last persons nameservers in there and then you have all sorts of problems.

The ip address is my ADSL accounts static ip. The box is a ClarkConnect box which is suitable for a running a website on. Other people can access my site by going to my ip address. I bought a domain to assign to this account. In about three weeks i'm getting proper webspace hosting however it won't be with the same company as the domain is registered and i do not want to transfer it over.
