Hello to All...

I am a relative newbie and I hope someone can help me:

I made some advanced buttons - each in a separate new Flash document - so that when I had 5 of them, I had 5.fla files. My intention was to make them all first and then systematically import them into my main Flash Movie/library. (I thought I was being tidy!)

I then opened my main Flash movie and tried to import them from the external library. This worked for the first Button..but when I tried to drag the other 4 buttons (each from their own libraries)...one at a time...I get a dialog box which says "One or more items exist in the library - Do you want to replace? Yes/No"

The items that I have are a series of Buttons with their corresponding bitmaps, MC's, Wav files etc.

My question is: Why am I unable to place more than one button into my library without it overwriting the others.

I'd appreciate any help on this - I'm baffled.

Regards
Crosbie (UK)

Objects in the library can not have the same name. I would consider ditching separate fla's for each button and simply make separate Movie Clips for each.

Make separate FLA's for section content, load them into a master FLA which has navigation items and layout.

Thanks PixelHive...

Just one thing...my buttons started off life as animated Gif's...and when I
imported these into the Fla library...it brought in all the bitmap files, &
what appears to be a MC symbol too...will it be okay to use animated Gif's
in this way?

Cheers

Well, thats the only way to import gifs. They import all the seperate imges that make up a gif, and then give you the animated version inside a movieclip. Also, it would probably be easier renaming the movieclips and images that are different as to their looks, and then just not replacing the rest, so your left with the same button.

Thanks...this is very helpful. I've got another question...not sure if it's related... I'll post it as a new thread...

Cheers
