Looks good but like fusionmanx said add some mock content. Also with the grey fading under the menu maybe shorten it and make it lighter.

In my opinion, if it's a portfolio website, it won't give a nice first impression of your design skills to clients. In fact, some clients will pay more atention to the website itself more then the work showing on the portfolio.

If your website is too simple and doesn't have a diferent style from the others, you will not get many clients.

Imagine the situation: someone is trying to find a good designer for a project or something else... then he goes searching for a designer, looking at portfolios... He visit your website and then after that he vists http://www.2advanced.com or http://www.created201.com

seriously, who do you think hes going to hire?

Just because the web owner has a simple site doesn't mean he/or she wont have extremely good work.

http://www.created201.com/ ... yep a spinning box with stuff coming out of it. Not much of a good impression to me, but I would still take the time to check out the their stuff and who they've done work for.

http://www.2advanced.com/ ... why is 2advance great? oh hey a bunch of low opacity content boxes, and a giant image smacked behind it, with some repetitive music. It wasn't so great when I first saw it, but they did have some great work to showcase.

SIMPLE site, great portfolio work and he is pretty successful.

So who gives a SHIT if they have a simple as hell site. It's all about the work they have to showcase.

Oh btw, http://studiostortz.awardspace.com/. I checked it out the site, and it's pretty plain, but I checked out the work anyway.

Thanks for the response, like I said in the original post. I ran out of ideas and was looking for some more to improve greatly on what I already had. So this is not the complete template. So lets not move this topic too far off track.

I appreciate all the comments and each and every one has been taken into account.

Trix06, looks fine to me but prefer a working site instead of an image, why if this is your personal site are you adding a Forum?

Myoto, have to disagree on your statement if your website is too simple or doesn't have different styles they won't get many clients. You would be quite surprised the most basic sites are client overloaded, some just use simple wordpress blogs. Not everyone showcases work and well 2A and created201 are bad examples to use against Trix06's uncompleted layout.

I like the layout, simple. and ye, why in the world do you have a forum in a personal site?
I think that if you leave the content area that big, then the site might be a little boring. I think you must add some stuff, and make it a bit busy yet simple. just an opinion

I also disagree with myoto. Dude, those sites are so different from others, how can you even compare between the two. They are flash sites, this one is a design site using photoshop
