I made a design for a site panel. Here it is on a live preview:

Or with the sitepanel words (Slightly informal)

What do you think really? And do you prefer? With or with the Site Panel text?

without, the informality of the font makes a big contrast with the formality of thelayout.

I dont like the one with the Site Panel text. it makes it look cluttered.

Anyway, can I have an in-depth critique please?

it looks cool the design, but im not sure about purple and black, mabye try a grey.

I only code in XHTML and CSS. I hate tables, so that should be more fun to code, eh

I'd say without it too.
I like your site, nice colors. I'd make the links (for example 'Comments' and 'Read the full article') stand out a bit more, like in bold or something.
I really like the menu on the right too, are you gonna use some rollover effects on it? It would be cool.
