So you thought the 3D program view in Vista was cool? Well, it seems that the next version of Novell Linux has something even more impressive. :)

So the actual point in this is to slow down the computer running it?
its like the macs at school - the old macs, which are using an os with all the "fancy doodads" which slow it down, so that it judders when moving the window :s...

also like, starting up a new mac - which can run the stuff and stay fairly happy with it, and then getting pissed off at the annoying bouncy thing at the bottom, or the ripples when i create a new window or things not just maximizing or minimizing but having to do a "fancy" little animation, rather than just disapearing.

I think i would switch all of that off, sept maybe the cube as having 4 virtual desktops could be nifty if got used to and didn't have to do the spinny thing across the screen all the time ;)

I much prefer the Vista version.. more erm.. "Realistic"? Not sure if thats really the word.. but it does seem pretty impressive.

Also, the vista one you can add post it notes onto the back of websites and programs :P

Or for the people who just CANT wait.. http://desk3d.sourceforge.net/

Not really the same but you get the desired effect :P

Man, that looks really cool, but... why? I approve of the cube with the 4 virtual desktops (more space ) but that's about it.

i have used XGL on Ubuntu and it is awesome. If you have a powerful enough system and you get used to it...it will the equivalent of using tabs on Firefox.

Only if there was better support for Adobe based products on Linux. Meh.

I still cant find a practical purpose for alot of those animations...
And with all the twisting and turning id probably be sick after the first 30 minutes.
