Well, like the title says, i've got a problem with joining some paths. I dont know how to do it. In the picture you can see all the paths i want to merge are selected. I want to make the inside of that shape darker(where the arrows point at), so the center stands out more. The problem is, when they're all selected (they're even in the same Group) I get the result shown in the second picture. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Actually you dont want to join 2 anchorpoints, but, since someone had tyhe bright idea to draw every single freeking little ornament as a separate line, you are asking how to join 50 points.
rofl.

I have no idea,
you could try selecting them all and (since they overlap) click on the "unite" filter icon.
It's worth a try, but i have my doubts on the outcome.

I have no idea how to fix this in a fast way.
