select the object you want to boolean

-> create -> compound object -> boolean

click the 'pick operand B' button.

select the object you want to subtract.

note: booleans suck, they create sloppy meshes and will give you problems with complicated booleans. may i ask what youre doing? as maybe someone can give you an alternative suggestion on how to do it without using booleans.

yeh thx 4 the help, to b honest theres no reason @ all and i know that booleans suck quite a lot as they tend to get in the way quite a bit, ive been learning max for quite some time now, and im just experimenting all the ways of doing things.
