Okay, 1st make a new image 500/500 pixels.
Take out the fill tool, put it on Pattern and choose the scales.

Now, take out the brush tool, get a big size, set it to red and color burn. Now, in a single stroke, fill the whol image with it. If you want, use a diffrent color, but the explosion might turn out kinda diffrent...

Now, take a lens flare in the middle. The settings are: Brightness: 150. 105mm Prime.

Now, make do Glowing Edges and ALL SETTINGS maxed out.

EXTRA STUFF: do Glowing Edges again and get the FREAKIEST THING EVER! Also, try Solarize. Another cool thing is Emboss. Also, try Extrude and Polar Conditions. Try inverting it (CTRL I). Another cool thing is Ink Outlines. Dry brush rox 2. Paint Daubs is realy cool. Plastic Wrap is kinda cool (but it always is...). Rough Pastels... thats cool. Smudge Stick and Water Color are cool, too.
