Favicon Doesn't Work

I have made an icon called favicon.ico and it is stored in the same directory as my index page. This is the code i have from top until the title.

can someone tell me why it doesnt work?

This is the code i use just under the head tag
This needs to be put in everypage, you want the favicon to be seen on
Also i dont know if you know this but you must keep the favicon name as favicon
or it will not work

Thay dont work for IE also

favicons work for the new IE, i can see the addictinggames one, and even the pixel2life one. It just doesnt work for the sites i put them on. Thanks for the help though.

I see one on http://www.unisonline.ca/ I'm on IE too btw

Oh yeah thay work for IE7 i forget about that as i dont use it :ph34r:

That code i posted was copy and pasted right from my site,and works perfect for my favicon
Not sure why it dosent work for you

If you make your own favicons thay have to be 16x16

Keep in mind, you don't "need" the link tag. I don't have that on my site and have never had any problems getting my favicon to display.

Oh yeah that reminds me, if you still dont see your favicon,
when you type in your site address in your browser, try puting ? at the end to refesh it

If that dosent work, try clearing your browsers cache

I used to be able to view my favicons without the favicon code also, at one point, but ever since i updated my site one time, i had to use the code ever since lol
