when popping up the "schematic view", there are different boxes of different colors refering to the elements in the scene. could someone explain what the different colors mean? thnx

If I understand your question right, the colors mean nothing. They are issued to each object created to keep them from blending together.
you wouldnt want a complex scene in black wireframe now would you?
