I must create an advertisement poster for a video game we made up during the school year. The poster will be a battle scene, something like midevil-style armies. I was going to take a scene from a movie, and use it as a guide, draw my charecters, scan them in, than paint and arrange in photoshop. Are there any tutorials on painting such a scene? Arranging them? Any other effects I can create for this project? I have about 8 days to do this and my photoshop skills are not all that, all help is much appreciated!

Theres no tutorial that will cover exactly what you want to do. Follow similar tutorial and slowly build up your skills, altho, that would be hard to do in 8 days. MS Paint for the rescue?

You are in way above your head mate, just so you know.
easiest way so do something like that is to arange it all in a 3d program... Painting an army and i suspect you dont own a tablet... Still is lika a omg 2-5 weaks if you are realy pro(depending or resolution and size), project. That is unless you make something silly, that may not look "bad" but not epic as i also suspect is the feeling you want to emit with the image you describe.
If there are any main characters in the game use then for boxart material, think how the starcraft or warcraft boxart looks like, rps games but no battles on the cover only warfaces. Or even better if its to impress teachers is to do something artsy that sticks out on a shelf.

Just look at the call of duty or any other army games and see what they did. It shouldn't be that hard.

That sucks. Any other suggestions? I mean, ways I can do this or some equivalent. It has to be an advertisement poster for a medieval war game.

Go find some books of epic wars in your local library and scan in a drawing or picture from there.
R something, try searching the internet for pictures/drawings/movie previews are whatever. Maybe you get lucky and don't have to alter too much.
Cos i wouldnt dare to start from scratch here...

If its for school you would probobly get away with manipulating somone elses work (Scan in) as long as that game isnt meant for the public. Me old teach told me that as long as you dont make money out of, or somone else looses money out of something its almost always okay. And for educational purposes its pretty much free for all. Unless the subject is art and you are supposed to make something yourself.
