Could anyone help direct me/inform me on how to create the web2.0 sunlight effect?

Here are two examples of which I speak.

theres a tut for that in illustrator
ive done it in photoshop but couldnt find any ps tuts for it sorry
an easy way in photoshop is just to use the polygonal lasso tool and make your own rays of light and fill them with a lighter color then add a layer mask to make it fade out towards the edges
good luck

  • Interests:I love to do booth Web Design and Photography. Nothing beats a nice day out in the nature with the camera gear, getting loads of nice photos. I have been playing the flute for 6 years now and I love it, and I am playing the pipe organ as well. I also like to teach other people the in and outs of software such as the CS3 suite from Adobe.

I will whip up a tutorial on the subject, but to first explain a little:

One other way you can go around doing it in Photoshop, is if you do a normal rectangle, fill it with your colour and lower the opacity to the desired transparency. Then go place the end, at the end of the image and go Edit > Transform > Perspetive and drag to make the perspective go inwards. (You can also go Ctrl (Cmd on Mac) + T to bring up the free transform, then right click and select Perspective.)

Then if you need it to fade more out or in, add a layer mask and do a black to white gradient to fade it. Hope it helps, will post back when I've got the tutorial up.
