Save iTunes Ratings Before Reformat

I have rated at least 6,000 sounds through my iTunes library. I wan't to reformat my computer, but I don't know how to backup these ratings. The iTunes library is stored on external hard drive so I don't have a problem saving those files.

i think if you save the library.xml files then it will keep all your played counts and ratings
i dont remember exactly but the file is either already in the my music or itunes music folder, or you go to file>export library or track list or something of that nature, good luck
